PERIDOT
Peridot
is a transluscent green to yellow-green coloured gemstone. Because of
its softness, peridot is fashioned into brooches, pendants, and earrings,
but is seldom used as a gemstone in rings or bracelets. The most important
source of peridot was St Johns Island, but the island is no longer
accesible for collecting. Gem-quality stones are found in the Mogok
area of burma. Peridot has been found as far afield as Antarctica and
it has even been found in meteorites.
